This document gives a description of all the existing provisions for the protection of natural resources along
Peru's west coast. It will address: national laws for the mining concession (BRAFFICA - Colombia's national law series) in force for new resources exploitation within 90 days after June 18, 2004 ; legal systems in favour of mining in private properties, including the right that allows exploration for exploitation during dry spells of the mining season; policy recommendations regarding the management regime, mining practices and standards, compensation levels in respect of exploration in private properties and on land rights occupied for exploitation; proposed rights of owners with commercial fishing in public rivers and areas affected by mining ; plans of the State Department of External Economic Affairs on protecting and promoting economic activity, protecting cultural diversity or resources, and preserving natural resource sectors as key priority projects for indigenous tribes along Costa Chinchal Basin / Pará region.
